Willem has dedicated his career and experience to date to helping people to become the best version of themselves that they can be.
Willem (WFM Jungschlager Consultancy) has a PhD in Clinical Psychology and has worked in the world of business and industry for the bulk of his career and has taken special interest in maximising human performance. He started off by conducting leadership development for Ford Motor Company management and executives and in 1985 travelled to Cape Town where he became the senior psychologist at the Koeberg Nuclear Power station, providing assurance to the public and employers that the staff involved in the nuclear operation were fit for duty and able to conduct their work effectively and safely. It was also at Koeberg that Willem became involved in and helped to further develop techniques and processes of error prevention both in business and in process industry.
In 1990, whilst still at Koeberg, Willem was approached by the CEO of HomeChoice (a direct marketing retail organization) to implement performance processes and become involved as consultant in organizational culture development. All these years later, he is still involved at HC, helping to maintain the most effective culture and values, mentoring and developing managers and executives and dealing with any difficult HR issues. He was asked to become non-executive director on the HomeChoice Board in 2010, which position he still holds today.
InĀ 2000, Willem was approached by the chairperson of The Laser Group, a logistics and removals group, to become a board member and Human Resources director. In this role, he managed every human aspect of the workforce, from labour relations through to remuneration policy and from executive development to values management through until 2006, when the organization conducted a management buy-out and split into 2 separate entities.
From 2007 – 2015, Willem was requested by the power station manager of the two new power stations (Medupi and Kusile) to help him and his management team develop staff to internalize the best possible culture & behaviour, performance and safety orientation, error preventative conduct and approach.
Willem possesses the following Key Competencies:
- Ability to create authentic relationships at all levels of a business
- Qualified in use of many specific assessment instruments and batteries such as: APIL (Cognitive Battery), 16 Personality Factors, EQi, Hogan Battery etc.
- Has conducted psychometric assessment at all levels since 1979, with specific focus on personality, EQ, preferred behaviour & style etc. both for selection purposes but also significantly for personal & career development.
- Develops and runs specialist lifestyle improvement courses such as personal mastery, stress management, assertiveness, conflict management, resilience etc.
- Is regarded as a professional mentor & coach to managers and executives
- Conducts organizational and culture assessments and implements culture and values initiatives
- Develops and assesses all levels of staff in the field of risk assessment and Human Performance improvement.
- Has been HR Specialist consultant to various institutions including Eskom, HomeChoice, Laser, Cape Town Partnership.
- Has a deep knowledge of HR related work including industrial & labour relations, organizational development, human capital management, recruitment & selection, health & employee wellbeing.
Willem has travelled extensively with his wife and business partner Tania and has gained experience consulting internationally as HP specialist & facilitator including the following:
- Conducting Incident & Accident investigations
- Broad consultation in the nuclear field, from facilitating annual international symposiums for nuclear safety throughout Europe over many years through to introducing and training executives on fitness for duty, assessment & monitoring, human performance improvement on behalf of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at Wuhan, China in 2012/3.
- Conducted staff development symposiums at two Professional Movers Association (PMA) conferences in southern Africa;
- Trained staff on shift-lifestyle management in Sydney, Australia.
- Completed Human Performance (HP) evaluation at three British nuclear facilities (EdF) over some years to aid in error reduction and performance improvement
- Presenting HP & error prevention principles at psychological conference (SIOPSA 2011)
