Research has shown that up to 20% of people in industrialized world have real difficulty in coping with shift to the extent that it is recommended that they stop working shift. Most other people will be able to cope, but will need to re-align their lifestyle so that the impact of shiftwork does not negatively impact their lives.
A compressed lifestyle management course is presented in 4 hr timeframe and a more interactive process will require 1 day. Critical issues staff learn include exercise and relaxation concepts, eating and sleeping for shift, how to modify the house to cope with shift sleeping, mental focus processes for the ‘zombie zone’ hours of 02h00 – 05h00 in the early morning hours etc.
